Greetings,

Once again, thanks to all concerned for all the guidance at Sentosa on Sunday, 12 February, 2006.

These are about the only few properly exposed shots (according to my eyes) that turned out relatively well in my first exposure to the world of IR!

As usual, I welcome all your sincere criticisms; especially on whether the photographs are over- or under exposed, wrong or inadequate post processing, etc.

P.S. BTW, how do you guys retain some colour in the final images?

All pictures are good for a first attempt.

Just a note, you can still pp the trees to more white if you want to, unless you like the pinkish color of the foliage. It's a matter of personal preference. The blue skies are very nice too.

Those colored IR shots you see done by Vince123123 and Photoexpress are blended shots done with 2 photos of the same scene. One color and one IR. They're blended together with a technique called Quick Masking or Layer Masking which you can also learn to do. It's not difficult.

Think Teerex and I have the same liking.... Personally I prefer to have the trees white.

Hi teerex & photoexpress,

I still could not completely 'get rid' of the 'pink' in some of the foliages (by reducing magenta &/or red - hue). If I force it, the affected photographs would look very unreal & not in balance (colour). Is there any other method?

Why are some images 'pink' when captured? Overexposure to begin with?

Hi yy,

If you want to get rid of more of the pink in some of photos, you can further reduce the saturation in the Red, Yellow and Magenta channels


Take this for example.

My try. Further saturation reduction in the red and yellow channels. Slight increase in the Master channels and a slight "S" curve added.


How do you mean, some pictures are pink when captured. As in out of camera without any post processing? Can show one?
