Reputedly, the RX-8 goes 6km to the litre (ie. it guzzles petrol...)
Now I see my 7D go thru 6 x AA energizer batteries in 50 shots... My habit for travelling is to use AA alkaline batteries cos you'll never know when you have access to electrical outlets... Think I will go and faint now... ![]() |

Erm... I never knew it was so bad with AAs.
But den again, understandable that u might not have access to a power source but den again, the proprietary Li-Ions shld last u like 8 to 10hrs? Get 1 more in addition to the original one. Keep ur AAs for last desperate resort backup supply. It makes no sense to keep guzzling AAs (and kill the environment as well) simply becos u may not have access to a power source unless u go to some really ulu (and wonderful) place, where electricity is a thing unheard of, all the time. ![]()

its never recommended to use Alkaline AAs on any digital cameras anyway, they'll recommend u using NiMH... most just put in alkalines for testing for camera defects only.
Anyway, with such big LCD, and also other mechanisms, 50 shots is good already... was using a P&S last time, pop in 2 AAs, and less than 10 shots, battery flat...

A lot of RX7s are TC cars, but the RX8 is NA so the comparison not too fair.

actually there are different, according to the manual, 5d can shoot quite some more than 7D with the same battery charge, 7Di should be even better?

it's the discharge characteristics of alkaline batteries that made them unsuitable for use in digital cameras which require higher current. NiMH batteries and lithium would perform better.

I know Li-ion and NiMH better, but as my original post, prefer no charge solution...
Usually just pack 18x AA for my old coolpix and will last thru the trip... |

My RX8 runs faster than my D7D but it consumes less energy than the D7D based on power to weight ratio. Go figure!
