Singapore born, went overseas and became so famous artistically in music...
I know of one Lee Pan Hon volinist who was my classmate at Yong Cheng Chinese School at Ann Siang Hill, in Chinatown. He was eleven years old then and was discovered playing the violin in the back streets around that area. Later when he was back in Singapore to perform I manged to meet him and took some pictures of him.
Nevertheless if he hadn't been given
the opportunity he would never have
developed his creativity.

He was probably the first of Singapore's child protegies and spear-headed many others to follow in his footsteps. His life story is something one can write a novel on. Literally, from rags to fame.
BTW, he has not, to my knowledge, performed in Singapore for many years.
