Default Review : Extension Tubes vs Reversed-lens

There were some questions regarding the use of extension tube(s) vs reversing of a lens, so I decided to do a small review to help you people out. As I have limited number/sizes of ext tubes, the 2 shots could not achieve a 100% identical reproduction ratio.

Shot using Nikon 50/1.4 AFD @f11, auto white balance. Straight out of camera (other than resizing/cropping).

    Using Kenko Extension tubes 20mm + 36mm.

Lens reversed using BR2A - white balance seems off.

    Ext tubes @ 200%

    Lens reversed @ 200%

    Please discuss ....

To me, extension tubes are better.
    Canon EOS 5D, 24-70 f/4 L IS, 50 f/1.2 L, 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS, 600EX-RT. Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX.

is that noise i see on the ext tube? the mottled blue and red on the black letters.
Wonder wat iso was this shot at?

I agree that it does seem reverse is sharper and image quality better.

ISO100 for both shots. CA tends to be a common problem with ext tubes .
