btw when is the pc show????

    FZ7 Spec.
    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...nic_dmcfz7.asp

    Weight (inc. batteries) 340 g (12 oz)
    Dimensions 113 x 72 x 79 mm (4.5 x 2.8 x 3.1 in)

    FZ5 Spec.
    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...nic_dmcfz5.asp

    Weight (inc. batteries) 326 g (11.5 oz)
    Dimensions 108 x 68 x 85 mm (4.3 x 2.7 x 3.3 in)

It is just slightly heavier. I don't think there is a huge difference in size.

the size and the weight I think almost similar, although FZ7 is heavier by 14 grms, but not issue at all.
PC Show from 9 to 12 Mar 2006, check this out: http://www.itshow.com.sg

why not consider fuji S5200 with 10X optical zoom although the CCD size same as FZ5,the noise performance is better with the 5th Generation SuperCCD HR image sensor with low-light capability.
cheaper than FZ5 but bigger and heavier and without OIS.
    uses AA batteries some more.

Wait for the new TZ1... it looks like a winner to me.

Could the "red camera" icon be semi-manual control? Maybe selectable A-S-M modes via menus. Scn1 and 2 are probably preset scene modes.

it can do exposure compensation only I think.
but being a 10X snapshooter at such an amazing size, don't think any big deal whether it has manual functions or not.
maybe future firmware to enable it like the FZ1.
