Clone inks do have inaccuracies in colour reproduction (at least when using default driver settings) and have very questionable permanence on paper (ie. resistance to fading).
See Wilhelm Imaging Research's articles: http://www.wilhelm-research.com/articles.html But then again, I don't think many (if any) of the cloners can afford to hire Wilhelm or the likes to conduct exhaustive tests on ink permanence. About US$15000 per printer per ink per media type. |

I will never ever consider using 3rd party inks on the Epson 2100 and Canon S9000. Too much trouble to reprofile and select third-party papers for these inconsistent inks. But I use them on my home printers that I use to print documents and stuff.
I don't give a crap about my lauya Epson CX3100 |

Heard from my fren(cannon printer engineer) that sepoms ink will damage the printers print head causing the colors to over flow out when printing. Also once the print head spoils, even printing b/w letters will have smudges of color inks.

all these always when they do it on a printer for demo they sure go tweak the printer abit or watever to make it so good and so nice. then when consumer buys home the product, it is not as what you see at stores

I just bought the InkStation CIS for my Epson 895. Since I have my Epson895 for like 4years and it is still going strong, I decided to give it an experiment (Bought it from Sim Lim Square for $150). Before this I use only original ink and because I print A4 photos, that is why I want to give this CIS a try.
I am doing the following experiment. 1) Original Ink print vs InkStation CIS 2) 1) exposed to normal lighting indoors (for a few months - See the how long the Print will last) 3) 1) Stored in album or will use 2 and cover it up with a frame to see the fade result. I did some printing last night using on Premium Glossy Photo Paper to do the experiment, and also PGPP supplied by InkStation. Some, first impression 1) Setting on Print Image Matching using Epson Photo Quicker on PGPP a) Epson original Ink : Skin color looks lighter b) InkStation CIS : Looks a little warmer in tonality but also looks darker (red-ish tone) 2) EXIF PRint InkStation CIS : Looks warm, but brighter than PIM 3) PhotoEnhance InkStation CIS : Looks less warm then the above 2 but warmer than original Epson Ink, Looks a little artificial, Brightest Printout Ranking by me, wife & son Me : 2, 1b, 1a, 3 Wife : 1a, 2, 1b , 3 Son : 1b, 2, 1a, 3 I have just taken the photo of the pictures this morning. will try to post the Experiment for fade result. In 2-3 months time. |

I think best is to befriend the pple selling CIS, not the sales person but the tecnician
they teach me how to clean my printer head like photo2k had encounter. clear the binary system after excessive usage from my printer - so no need send to the printer company (every printer will encounter that. imagine how much I print using CIS) give me a tool to reset ink cartridge, so i just bump ink into original cartridge me using epson rx510 (CIS) and photo stylus 630 |
