my D70 can not be powered ON after I replaced the hot mirror using lifepixel one. i followed deadpixel's instruction on the replacement steps.
Apart from unable to power ON, it also kind of blur when I look throuh viewfinder. appreciate any clues from those who have done their own conversion..... thanks a lot

Firstly, when you insert a CF card, does the green light come on for a second? If not, you're gonna have to check the flat golden-brown cable connecting the CCD board to the camera. Secondly, check to see if the WHITE cable connecting the CCD board to the camera securely connected. Check to see if there are any bent pins. Thirdly, check the flat cable connecting the rear LCD to the camera to see that it is securely and completely inserted. Check to see if there are any breaks in the cable (look behind the cable) - if there are ... you're gonna have to go back to NCS. Check these things out first, particularly the insertion of the cables...they usually look as if they are properly inserted but are actually not. Cheers, Matt |

Lifepixel can replace the hot mirror for you also.

Update...checked and re-checked all the cables and ribbons connection.
Still my D70 refuses to power ON. No sign of life at all.

I just noticed that you said you could not switch the camera ON. Do you mean that there is absolutely no power to the displays (top and back) at all? If so, the issues could be due to something else. Try a different battery. Check the battery terminals and the battery contacts in the camera. Did you remove the battery before opening it up? Did you discharge the static in your body before opening the camera? Did you leave anything in the camera that may be causing a short? Check the contact to the RESET button at the bottom of the camera...is it constantly pressing against the RESET button? Not having any power when you filp the switch isn't a problem caused by the cables, it's usually caused by issues with the battery/connectors or capacitors or the reset button. Check out these items again. Cheers, Matt |

When asking you to check the reset button, I forgot to ask you whether you inserted the rubber retainer piece for the USB cable in the proper slot that was designed for it? You cannot leave it dangling as it can very easily be placed in the wrong place and be constantly pressing against things it should not be pressing, such as the reset button. Cheers, Matt |

I was so desperate to check again...now the cam has been with Nikon for a check.
Will know by Monday... btw...I think I must have forgotten to check the rubber retainer piece for the USB cable in the proper slot.
