Since it will be a P&S, you might want to consider one that's smaller? Just get one that's comfortable to your handling, convenient to keep and easy to use. (Most ppl like to share such P&S with family). |

A $900 budget can fetch you a nice Ixus 750 or Ixus 55.

I considered the Fuji F11 for my daughter. I'm sure it's a great camera, but it is pretty large and heavy for a carry around. I wound up going with the Ixus 55, and it is great.

I think the 55 is probably sufficient for general photograhy p n s tho the 750 is a beauty. Dont really need the extra megapixels unless you are going to make large reprints. Also with technology changing so fast, you will probably be changing cameras within a few years. Just a practical suggestion but of course, if cost is not an issue, go for the 750 just for the heck of it.

I would prefer the IXUS 55, bit bit more compact. Both also creates alot of red eyes, if you don't use the reducing red eye effect. Almost 95% of my indoor flash pics have it.

I think it'll be best if you could go to the shop and test it. See which one you like. I suppose the handling is also different.
