Default A Japanese Fortune Teller

This is a pic from my Tokyo tour last yr....

I took it in a shopping centre, where they have dedicated a level of the complex to display of the vanishing trades in Japan. Haha, don't ask me for the name of the complex, as I've not bothered to find out and to remember.

The photo is untouched excpet for adjusting for contrast and brightness, and was taken in an extreme low light, and thus the underexposed portion looks grainy at ISO 400.

I don't quite know how to display the photo in this thread, so I've put the link down here:

Please do take and look and give me your comments.

Thanks,

Kenny

Hi Drumma,

Thanks for your kind and relevant comment.

Me too, I wondered if a tighter crop does work better, and actually I've gotten one done, so here it is, tell me if it works:

Nothing wrong with a bit of tilt. Any rule book out there which says every picture has to be straight and level?

u hav capture a very gd photo...

but pardon me.. jus my humble opinion is..

the last 2 cropping done was from bad to worst, i do agree that it indeed turns out alot less clutter as in 'neater', however i personally find that it's those 'props' like the signage, poster, wall lamp, billboard, etc.. that make the pic more interesting.. i'll prefer it to be crop in a way sure like, dont waste watever that's too good to be in the picture....

the cropping is wat i suggest ideal but pardon those noise, satu and burn off effect, those're jus for fun...

Hi DT,

Your comments are most welcome! :-)

And thanks for your illustration on how I should crop the pic, and yes, it is certainly way better than my own crop, I like it very much! :-)

I'll work on it base on your suggestion, when I get home from work....:-)

Thanks for being so helpful,

Kenny

yes frd u r doing better.. but since u hav already send it to PS.. why not u tilt it straight (well since i think it isnt suppose to be tilt in the first place), and probably if it was crop this way, i would actually prefer a square format, as in third of rule i actually like the main subject to place on one side rather then centre.. (it's all my personal preference and humble opinion).. a good pic or not, most importantly, u must like how the way u process it and hav a strong reason behind it..

Hi DT,

Hey, thanks for your constructive advise, I must let you know that I appreciate it very much! :-)

Yes, I should tilt it staighter, but yesterday, I did not have much time to do so, after spending sometime to get to the crop I like.

Did thought of the rule of thirds here, but i realised that I have to crop away part or a whole partition panel, so I aborted that idea.

Ok, will work on the tilt tonight...

Cheers,

Kenny
