Default ViewFinder

Hi guys,

When i look through the viewfinder, i can see one black dot stucked there. however, when i shoot photos, the black dot does not appear. Therefore, i assume that it is the viewfinder that is dirty.

I tried removing the lens and looked through the viewfinder, it is still there. Therefore, i comfirmed that it is the viewfinder that is dirty. However, after cleaning the mirror, the dirt is still there.

So i would like to know how to clean the top part. Not sure if you guys know what i mean. I'm trying to clean the part above the mirror. But found that it is slightly obstructed by a black sponge. I did not dare to cleaned it too hard because i'm afraid that the black sponge would drop. Any tips on cleaning the view finder ?

Thanks,
Mark

Don't touch the focusing screen whatever you do. Don't even try touching it with your hands, its a matte surface and any oils from your finger will stain the focusing screen. The best thing is to leave it alone or if you want you could try using a blower but you may end up with more dust than before.

I had the same problem as well. But since it does not interfere with my pics, I've learned to live with it...... It's kind of distracting though, when I'm focusing on a subject .

But whatever it is, if the blower cannot dislodge the 'bugger' on the viewfinder, either you leave it alone or send it to Canon for cleaning.

It will not affect your picture, but just irritating, is all up to you if you willing to spend money to remove it.

try to select the "clean camera mode" and blow inside, after that off the power and try again?

It has nothing to do with the sensor, so opening the shutter using the "Clean Camera" mode and using a blower won't make much a difference since the dust is on the focusing screen.

Yupz, as long as it doesn't affect the image quality.

Image quality aside, doesn't it feel irritating?

Doesn't really matter to me, though ideally it should be clean.
