I'm interested in the 1 light background lighting but not at the price they are quoting. BTW, are the prices in US$ or S$? Any discount on those prices?

A word of advise for those buying. remember to specify that you want the 220V, they will also say that they do not have the european power adaptor. Never mind that and get the standard american plug. You can go down to SLS to get an adaptor.

These lights are well constructed, light and small. I have verified that they are also rugged!! One of the lights toppled over and only the bulb broke, the lights were still functioning. Don't think this would survive for other lights.

be carefull with the voltage, you need to tell them to change to 220V, otherwise u will blow up your AB, better if you order directly from them

http://www.alienbees.com/

they do have shipping to singapore with reasonable shipping cost,..

Get 10% OFF of your entire order with our Student Discount!
This discount program is designed to lower the costs of professional lighting to those students who also have to incur the expense of school. To qualify for the Student Discount, you will simply need to provide proof that you are currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or community college in the United States. You do not have to be enrolled full-time, and you do not have to be a photography or studio art major. To qualify, we will need one item that includes your name, the school that you are attending, and the current semester.

The following items will be accepted:

• a copy of your current Student ID card
• a note from your professor on school letterhead
• a copy of your current registration or tuition receipt

The necessary item for verification must show that you are currently enrolled in an accredited school in the United States (including the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii).

I think it's getting a bit messy in here.

Check on the predominately US forums, e.g. POTN, fredmiranda, etc there are plenty of guys using these and discussing them - most of what I have read is positive.

Doesn't look like a MASS order to me - from the second post, it looks like a "tell me what you want and I place the order for you" proxy buying service.

Did you end up doing the MO? If you are still interested, I would like to order the following:

> The Intergalactic Bee US$1548.28
> OB47 Large Octabox (47") with Rotating Speedring US$129.95

Here are some reviews of the Alien Bees
