Still disappointed as there is no word on the E-1 successor. You can't have good lenses without a proper body to balance holding the camera.

the interesting thing is it uses a panasonic sensor. I think the panasonic DSLR is very close to release. Surely it must have something else to differentiate it from the E330. Image stabilization???? Panasonic loves that. The EVF is nothing great. I am sure the new panasonic DSLR will have that too.

Here you go... it looks quite amazing for a DSLR, doesn't it? Pretty much an E-10/20 reinvented.

according to the chinese site by chainsmoker, the LiveMOS claims to have simpler circuit (more room for electron charges) & better light aquisition than the FFT-CCD from Kodak.

Good... what is next? I am expecting 4/3 Leica lenses with Panasonic's O.I.S. technolgy to come soon, together with a relabelled/restyled Pansonic body. It is a great time to be a 4/3 user... just collect the lenses, the bodies on the way will be nothing short of amazing.

I hope so. Already, Nikon has the Zeiss lenses and VR technology and DX line up.
What Oly needs is Panasonic body with IS, Leica/Oly lens and a pro body. I don't need FF, at least not right now... ![]() |

Both are actullay in different directions.
Nikon-Zeiss mount - "manual" focus Oly E-330 - Live Preview DSLR There's no good or bad, but I believe they'll serve different group of users. |

very interesting design.. when P&S are trying hard to imitate DSLRs, DSLRs are trying harder to imitate P&Ss..
I'm very interested to see how much of this tech is true. It'll pave the way for a new generation and style of shooting.

I think there's a huge difference in ratio of Enthusiasts/Hobbyist vs Professionals. No point in keep delivering Pro or High end stuffs when there are only a small market of Professionals.
When the lower end market segment picks-up, then we'll see prices of stuffs coming down. Actually, hoo-har of a camera system mainly comes from the masses of Enthusiast/Hobbyist - buying & selling, comparing tech. spec & features, system hopping etc. Don't be surpised that P&S or E-330 alike can take some pictures or angle which conventional D/SLR find it difficult without extra effort or hassle. I see that E-330 is not to replace conventional system, but rather to improve digital photography by addressing some issues that nobody has been dealing with, at least for now. |

Olympus focus on getting the good lenses and the Exxx series out to the masses is in my view more important than the E1 replacement if the Exxx market is much larger than the Ex body market.
With Oly's innovation fully demonstrated in the 4/3 system series of camera body, it makes us really wonder what powerful features they are going to punch into the E3 given that they are 'working' on that for so long. Expectation is definitely piling up. It will be a deadly blow if those feature are just so-so ![]() For me, I am happen to learn that they didn't give up on the unique E3xx design which I perosnally like very much. While E500 is not on my upgrade path, E330 will be. Only 1 small disappointment on E330, still difficult to do manual focus. |

i have similar sentiment with u. the pros in the E sys is very very small, priority shud be targetted at the masses first, i wud do the same if i were the CEO of Oly camera division. on a more reality side of note, give the pros any camera, u get beautiful results. so letting the pros wait is not a big set back at all, if u look at it this way. i also like the E300 design. very compact & mobile friendly. build & image quality also very good. for the price vs quality its selling (~$1400), its about right. the feature that i like best is the ability to use 2 flashes together, in built & ext. the focus-by-wire needs a little getting use to. if u prefer the old ways, get some adaptors & use the older manual lenses from other makers. i m looking forward to the Zeiss on Nikon mount, its manual AIS lenses. u can't win them all, but with the kind of features & quality from this new member in the family, i m sure some gritty stuffs become secondary. ![]() |
