6mp, why not FZ6? I think it depend on what improvements on the camera, small improvement like 1 MP won't be likely to draw FZ5 owner up grade. May be FZ1,2 or 3. But I guess they can get cheaper FZ5 or 2nd hand by then.

indeed quite some improvement like:
2.5" LCD (but 114,000 pixels)
3:2, 16:9 ratio photo,
640x480 or 848x480 video
Extra optical zoom
Higher ISO, 800 & 1600 (I guess it achieve by reduce photo size )
Manual focus
Shuttter speed increase to 60s
More powerful flash
Slightly longer battery life.

But still using 1/2.5 " Type CCD for 6MP, I affraid the noise will be problem

but i guess i'll stick with my Fz5, it'll be a waste of $$$ if i sell it and get this new one, seeing that i spent so much for my Fz5

Wow, nice set of features for the FZ7, but i'll stick to my FZ5...

the iso 800 and 1600 sounds great but if it is very noisy... then it is useless. (I hope Pana has rectify its noise issues.)

from what i see is that they finally put the EVF in the middle.
comes with manual focus to correct miss focusing at tele-zoom.
even slower shutter speed 60 seconds.
longer flash range to 6 meters.
7 more shooting modes,turn the dial till mad.

but they never include RAW mode like LX1 since it has put in the 16:9 apect ratio.
macro distance also never cut down to 0cm still at 5cm.
same noice performance with the same size CCD.
fastest shutter speed still the same not up to S2's 1/3200 yet.
and still no hot shoe.
bigger LCD screen but lower resolution.

think i'm sticking to my FZ5 instead.

...really doubt can pull it off at iso 800 1600 yet the ccd size remained the same as fz5

it ok at 1/3200 i can't think of any useful subject to capture with that kind of speed
hotshoe...as long as it not ttl type..also kind of useless
best to let it remained small,light and compact

oOo...mind asking, since the lens of the Fz7 is the same as the ones on the Fz5, that would likely suggest that the thread size of the lens adaptor would be 55 mm...right?

If you guys read properly, there would be new accesories for this new model...

Quote:
Further Expandability with Enriched Accessory Lineup

You can enjoy more creative shooting by combining with various accessories sold separately with FZ7. The 1.7x tele conversion lens (734mm on a 35mm film camera) and the 0.7x wide conversion lens (25.2mm on a 35mm film camera), either can be applied by attaching the lens adapter between the camera unit and the conversion lens. It is also possible shooting through close-up lens, ND filter and MC protector as appropriate.

* DMW-LT55 Tele Conversion Lens*
* DMW-LW55 Wide Conversion Lens*
* DMW-LC55 Close-up Lens*
* DMW-LND55 ND Filter*
* DMW-LND52 ND Filter
* DMW-LMC55 MC Protector*
* DMW-LMC52 MC Protector
* DMW-LA2 Lens Adapter
* DMW-AC7 AC Adapter
* CGR-S006 Lithium-Ion Battery (710 mAh)

*Requires Lens Adapter (DMW-LA2) for attachment

I think the reason why the fz5 "did not" have accessories is because panasonic did not want to upset the sales of their fz20/30s.

but it seems that they're trying smth different this time.

i know the feeling! but i guess the reason why there is no hotshoe is cuz panasonic wants to maintain the compactness of the Fz5/Fz7...maybe.

im thinking...if the new lens adaptor/hood is able to fit on my Fz5, i might ask panasonic if i can get it!

wow!!! if I can sell off my FZ5, I will get the FZ7!!
Finally the Canon IS2 feature that I wanted in the FZ5...640x480 movie mode!
I took aot of short videos on my FZ5 but not very happy with the 320x240 mode. too low reso...
Now if the max sd memory card is 4GB or greater, that will be nice. With the current 2GB, 640x480 movies will fill up fast.
Also, the current problem with FZ5 is night shots. Without flash, portraits are blurred. With flash, background is almost invisible. If they have true ISO 1600 that would make it similar to the new Fuji F11.. Plus manual focus (they said via joystick, so I guess its not direct mechanical adjust)!
my only concern is noise..yes ...noise...
5MP on a 1/2.5" CCD is slightly noisy. imagin squeezing 6MP on the same 1/2.5" CCD....would the result be worse off?
I'm not too keen on the larger LCD also...don't see the point...battery life will definitely suffer here.

I do hope the flash will open higher up....otherwise it will be blocked when you use the wide angle lens...like for the FZ5..
notice the rings on the front? that means unlike the FZ5 that needed the hood adapter, I suspect accessories can screw in direct!
so when is it coming??? anyone want to buy an FZ5??

er... if you screw in direct, how is the lens supposed to move out?
