Hi,inl
1. Anyone has purchased extended warranty from Canon for their 350D? 2. Any idea on its coverage like e.g. does it include lenses? 3. Most of all is it useful or worth while to do so? Cheers! CSlye Last edited by CSlye; 22nd January 2006 at 01:20 PM. |

There was a survey done on this a few months back, when Canon first announced their scheme. Do a search. Personally I didn't get it cos I don't think its worth it. Some with other experiences may advise differently
From what I understand its for the body only, lenses excluded. I don't feel its worth the while cos: 1) Statistically if a product doesn't show signs of trouble in the 1st year there's a good chance it can last 3-5 years without trouble. Most manufacturing problems occur within the 1st few months. 2) If its a serious design flaw or other manufacturing problem affecting an entire production batch, Canon will have to recall ALL affected models and replace/rectify it FOC even if the warranty's up. 3) Doesn't really cover accidental damage, except maybe premier plus. Even then its replacement at preferential rates. They're not giving you another camera for free. In the end, Canon have done their homework. Chances are its a free couple of hundred bucks for them, while playing on your fears and insecurity. At least insurance covers accidents. Of course there's always the what if qn. Thats playing on your fears and vulnerability as an individual. I look at statistics. So does Canon and casinos. They're both rich for a reason. Thanks. Does the stats applies only cameras only or electronics in general? Wish the stat is true for my car too (also with lots of electronics)
