![]() Arrows are supposed to align. low angle view ![]() no instruction booklet, just a few diagrams in first diagram. trying to google now... other than that...test prints (4R) are fantastic! <edit>, can liao, misread the step one. must pull up, the front tray...then it'll sorta activate. print is resaonable, but then ink doesn't dry immediately..needs 24hrs? some forums say >48hrs also never dry... or isit the nature or such...so need some sort of laquer spray to keep the ink down? </edit> Last edited by di0nysus; 17th January 2006 at 11:40 PM. |

i am using canon but the surface is dry immediately when it pops out and i have used many brands of printable media for cd and dvds. and i wouldn't recommend using a lacquer to coat the print. you can see some samples at zenix (sls 6th floor). they lacquer their samples with a spray type lacquer. i have used this before and if the over-spray hits the underside, your disc cannot read properly. in addition, the lacquer also softens the image you have just printed. |

ic...its been >48hrs..and my disk haven't fully dried..(tried using bit of water to test.., or am I being nuts?)
lacquer.hm..i thought it could solve the problem, the softening of image ain't as bad as the over-spray hitting underside.. is the lacquer@Z-nix the similar kinds found in shops selling paint? |

The only reason I can think of if your disk did not dry even after 48 hrs is that you did not use a printable blank disk but a normal blank disk. All the printable media I tried so far dry and are touchable without smearing almost immediately after printing.

![]() i don't think there's a consumer waterproof inkjet printer or printable media yet except for those automated duplicators that we see at pc shows. they claim it to be wet proof but i have yet to test one out. the lacquer is not the same as what you'll find in a paint shop. those are too strong and may even 'melt' your cd. zenix's lacquer is a product from Krylon or something similar as i saw the can on the shelf and it looks like the one i have. i used this product sometime around 1997/8 when fastness of inkjet prints was a concern. the result wasn't good as there was a powdery residue that rubs off when you hold the print. the formula has changed and there isn't this residue on zenix's sample cds when i held them. but the softening issue isn't acceptable to me since the discs are for clients. the lacquer is originally intended for artists charcoal and pencil drawings....to prevent smudges. today's technology is so different from then. if the print fades, just print again. if you want longevity, get it lab printed on real photo paper and cold laminate it. ![]() |

bought the Z-nix lacquer and when sprayed, i see small 'snow flakes' when viewed at a certain angle. *shrugs*, am puzzled. Tried another disc, shake the bottle harder first, sprayed elsewhere first before spraying onto the disc, its like WORSE!!!! unacceptable!
will experiment more tonight |
