Default Comment on all 2500mah rechargable

    so far, read in cs ;

    1) sanyo - fast discharge problem. has it been resolve? if i buy now, how do i now if it is good?

    2) konnoc - slightly fatter than other AA size, so may have problem loading 'and unloading with battery compartment of some flash.

    any other comment?

Sanyo fast discharge problem seems to exist for the earlier batches. I bought a 4-pack from eastgear and the charge held well after 2 weeks of non-usage. Eg. I charged the batteries before I went to HK in end Dec 05 but I did not used it. Today, I used it on my daughter's Furby toy.

just finish Deep Battery Conditioning for 8x2300mA Sanyo batteries for 14hr as per instruction, than use a battery tester to check every piece, found all charge until 60%.

than use Soft Charge for 2hr, now 3 batteries is 80%, 5 pieces at 100%.

    now trying 8x2100mA Sanyo batteries.

down grading the 2300mA and 2100mA batteries for flash.

but i need 2500mA or higher for my 1V modification to 10fps. i am afraid the due to fatter body for konnoc batteries, it may become a problem to insert them into the battery casing for PB-E2.

How about GP NiMH 2500mAH battery? Is it better than Sanyo? So far I have no read bad comment on GP, not like Sanyo NiMH 2500mAH battery.

Sanyo also OEM for Sony NiMH 2500mAH battery, so , IMO, Sony quality more or less same as Sanyo. Anyone tried Sony NiMH 2500mAH battery?

    Anyone tried GP NiMH 2500mAH?

    Regards,
    Arto.

If you have bought it, can share with us your experience? Coz I heard that Fuji is made by Sanyo and I want to find out if Fuji has the same quick auto-discharge problem as Sanyo.

Today newspaper advertising GP NiMH 2700mAH. IMO, this is the biggest available NiMH up to date.

Have anyone tried it? Comment anyone?

    Regards,
    Arto.

any one tried measuring the battery cell voltage when
    a) fully charged
    b) fully charged and left unused for 1 week
    c) low battery indicated on digicam/dslr

    edit
this is the universal battery tester EC-741 (bought from EG also) i used,
    http://www.eastgear.com/shop/product...roducts_id=510

    as of today,
2 days after the 8x2500mA are fully charge, left unused, all 8 batteries drop another 20% charge, tested using the same EC-741.

will measure the fully charge batteries left unuse for 1 week.

forget to test the 2100mA Sanyo batteries right after Deep Battery Conditioniing, follow by Soft Charge, but result as of today,
2 days after, 1 bat left 40%, 3 bat left 60%, 2 bat left 80% and 2 bat still full charge.

    Have anyone use these before?
    1) Sanyo NiMH 2700mAh (not the 2500mAh)
    2) Sanyo NiMH eneloop (I think it is 2000mAh)

Any review on these rechargable ? esp on whether there is a fast discharge problem

If you know whether to buy them in Singapore, please let me know too.

    thanks, Zerstorer.
    those are typical values.

a fully charged NiMH battery will quickly discharge from ~1.45v to about 1.2v +/- 0.05. happens within first 10-20% capacity. the voltage will remain at about 1.2v +/- 0.05 for the next 70-80% capacity.
once the cell voltage drop below 1.1v, will fall quickly. so 1.1v is typically used as the low battery point.

a NiMH battery will typically lose 1~4% (at room temperature, 25 deg C) of its capacity every day. so after 1 week, it will lose somewhere between 7-28% capacity (latter figure is more likely) and battery cell voltage should be about ~1.2-1.3v. note that higher temperature will cause more losses from self-discharge.

so recharge batteries close to the time when the batteries are needed.

eneloop is a low self-discharge battery. newly developed and claims to be able to retain 90% charge after 1 year.
panasonic has announced a similar battery as well. seems to be available from Feb 2006. not sure if it will be available for Singapore market.

Has anyone used Sony Ultracharge? The package says it charges four AA batteries in 15 minutes.
