Having used anything from dot-matrix, colour dot-matrix to colour laserjets. I look back at the older stuff I'd owned and realised that ink-paper efficiency had improved very significantly over the years. From my old days of photo printing on my first bubble jet printer which is an ink-guzzler to the current generation of photo printers which have high ink efficiency.
What exactly it is with printers that the same number of words that's printing on 2 different printers have such a great difference in terms of ink efficiency. ![]() Print heads? Some techno gizmo chip within the printer?

Its most likey due to newer ink chemistry and print head technology that allows less ink to be drawn and sprayed at once...

Printer resolution with finer print head and better ink pigments.
