    Pol is for blocking out scattered light, i.e. light not directly reflected in your direction. So if u use a pol, lighting from the sides would be more easily reduced (supposed to be ard 30'), as opposed to eg a cloud lit by the sun behind you.
    I know it sounds weird if light supposed to travel in a straight line blah blah.. so just think of it as trimming out the weaker beams from a beam of light....

    oh yeah the rotation is to select the which range of angles of light to weaken, so sometimes when u use it u can never remove all the reflections if have multiple light source. then LL lor...
    if u stack 2 pols and rotate them into opp angles then the image is totally filtered (ND128?) because they phased each other out.
    the "polarize" means to have a specific phase.
