if im not mistaken the sigma TC works only with sigma lenses. so the best alternative will be kenko.

There are Nikkon TCs that will work with the older non-SWM glasses also.

Get the kenko 2X pro 300 DG version...is grey color. However TC work best with prime lens.
Here r some photo taken with 400mm + 2X kenko TC ![]() ![]() |

A question, is KENKO TC is same as TELEPLUS TC? Both the model number are the same... (PRO 300 DG)

well in Japan, they are the same thing, dunno why in SG, it is split into 2.
Here is Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DG. This is your best option if you are not getting the Nikon TC. Decent AF speed and quality degradation. stick with 1.4x. 2x might not work as well unless you have a very very sharp lens to work with. And TCs are better off paired up with long primes.

Thanks for the swift reply TMC.
Errr, from my avatar, you would notice that I am a CANON user. (Wah! Might get flamed liao...) Yes, I've got a TELEPLUS 1.4X TC for my EF 70-200mm f/4. CANON's 1.4X TC too expensive for me. The TELEPLUS works very well. So far, did not notice any major degradation from the pictures taken. (maybe not looking hard enough) Best Regards. There are older Nikon TCs that will AF with AF-D lenses. TC-14EII/17EII/20EII is not the first TCs that they came out with. The only problem here is whether you can find it in SG or not. Worst case scenario is to get the Nikon mt Kenkos

Grab a copy of the Nikon pricelist/ Lens catalogue. All in there.

There is no Nikon TC that will maintain AF capability with Nikon AF-D screw driven lens period.
Your only TC solution (maintain AF capability with Nikon AF-D screw driven lens) is third party TC like Kenko, Teleplus or Tamron SP. No only they maintain the AF cap. but also the D-Distance information as well. For those who might be interested... Nikkor Lens to Nikon, Tamron, Sigma, Tokina Tele-Converter (TC) Compatibility Chart] Disclaimer: This is not "Nikon" but I enjoy using it, so be prepared to upset some people here (and I likt that too!!). ![]() Addendum: Kenko, Teleplus or Tamron SP are made by the same maker "Teleplus". It sold at CP for S$260. The newest model is marked "DG" which claimed to have an additional coating on the rear surface element to eliminate CCD reflection/ghost. However, I do not see the different from the provious non-DG model much. Another TC that will maintain Nikon AF and D is MC-4 series from the same maker but they do not work with AF-S lens, so beware. Last edited by c_jit; 13th January 2006 at 11:48 AM. |
