Default To S3 or NOT

Been on the D100 since I moved into digital... Now I have thoughts of moving into the S3 pro ship... Is it going backwards or otherwise? I am having the same feelings I had when I moved from the F5 to the F100 after I slowed down on my picture taking.
You guys in here talked a lot about how good the S3 is! The D200 is tempting and about the same price. But a used S3 fits my current budget. It is quite a hassle and its stopping me from taking up all the offers for my D100+MBD100!!! Sighhhhhh.....

eh
technically the specs of an s3 are greatly similar to the d100...juz the buffer issue...which i feel the d100 is nowhere better...

but in terms of image and all...the s3 wins..... 12mp compared to 6
and with the extra dynamic range...

cheers..

S3 pro images are to die for really - if u wanna try compete with the contrasty and vivid, yet film-like, barely noisey high iso pix big range of lenses to choose from too! think of all the Nikkors and/or third party lenses from Sigma/Tokina/Tamron! cheers

You might want to wait for the S4 for to be released first, to at least have another choice, though I doubt it will be in this price range.

Sharing the same sentiments. But I'd prefer the D200... Nikon forever I guess!!!

u can approach our fellow FujiFilm user, Yowch. see if he can help u.

if u're keen to shoot RAW, u might wanna try this 3rd party software. FOC!

even on my S2Pro, i hardly shoot in RAW. can't imagine shooting RAW in S3.

i have tested between both d200 and s3

in terms of colours and tones and alll....s3 still beats the d200 hands down...

auto wb...the d200 seems abit warmer...thus i feel its more accurate....

all in all...handling wise...i tink the d200 in terms of functionality is alot better too....

but when it comes to noise at 1600...the d200 is murky compared to the s3...which still retains good detail at 12mp jpegs

the above are conclusions from large jpegs from the cameras...

i will continue to do the raw tests when i have to chance to.....
cheers

Just came back from Fujifilm... CD no stock! Very sad! While I was at it, went on a spree with the ac adaptor, a new lcd cover, the covers for the synchro and remote. Luckily my son was there to stop me from more.... Any kind soul can help me with the software cd????

Welcome to the Fuji community, redviper ... a good place to visit is http://www.theswampbbs.com/forums ... it's a good online forum that started with the S2pro and has now expanded to all nikon-mount DSLRs.

Lots of good nuggets in there.
