It is a good lens, does flare sometimes with a very strong lightsource. Can check out some of my pics in my gallery, in the travel section.

Focusing accuracy is good, sharpness is good, flares a abit in direct light. However, given a 2nd chance I'll take the Sigma 10-20mm instead for the extra 2mm.

sigma 10-20mm have a f/4-5.6 aperture.. wonder if that makes a diff with tokina 12-24mm's f/4 ![]()

The tokina is useful with the fix aperture for shooting in low light handheld for certain occasions.

go flip a coin, you cant go wrong with either 2. you want as wide as possible, then the sigma. If you want better build and fixed aperture, than the tokina.

initial cost is high but then if work part time here even at 16hrs a week, you can still make enough to survive every month.

yeah, toss a coin..
as for apenture wise.. most of the time u might be shooting at f/8 or more in daylight.. so i tink its not a v big issue. but if u lik to shoot indoor WA. can consider tokina for e constant f/4. i choose sigma.. for r 2mm wider.. but after some shoot i stil tink its not wide enough.. lol. juz to confirm wif u guys.. is there a 8mm lens? i seems to see it somewhere.. or am i dreaming? ![]() |

No, I just bought the Tokina, mostly for the better price. Less 'moustache' distortion than the Nikon as some places reported, but more flare. Focusing is good, fast and quiet, for mechanical coupler focusing, but nowhere near AF-S. But if you accidently manual focus while the auto-focus is engage, the Tokina will not spoilt the body, as the gear is decoupled on the lens itself. I'll say good value-for-money.

Hi guys,
sorry to borrow this thread.. can i have the rough pricing of the tokina, sigma 12-24 and the sigma 10-20? And amongst these 3, which is the better one in terms of sharpness, CA and shooting at either ends of the focal length? Aperture doesn't matter to me as i shoot f11 and above most of the time. Thanks! |
