I remember seeing spiders that were as big as people's head and were extremely bright and colourful. I wonder if they are still there. Would be happy to snipe some shots of them.

    GOLDEN WEB SPIDERS

Nearly ran into one's web while forest bashing in Punggol (luckily I wasn't the one leading )...

    Their webs can be huge.

if any of you guys are going to Chek Jawa, please respect the rules and not trample over the place. Not that I'm insinuating anything, but when we are overzealous and snapping away eagerly, we might forget that the place has a very sensitive eco-system.

try not to stray from the routes and walk all over the place and leave the denizens in peace. thanks.

It now costs $10 to bring the bike over??? The last time I brought my bike over, it cost only $4 (or something around that price)! Ok, admittedly, that was close to 10 years ago.
i brought my bike over last year. person $2 + bike another $2. so to and fro total $8

It's possible to cycle, then trek a bit to Chek Jawa. But have to check the low tide timing. Do be careful of the terrains there though, there is a certain part that is quite dangerous.

yeah i swear i saw those 6-8 years ago when i went camping there. they had a far body and their webs were usually spun high up across 2 trees so ppl usually do not notice them.

I really hope they are not extinct. They are such a pretty sight.

Chek Jawa is closed to public as in you are not allowed to step into the low tide sea area. But you are still allowed to go to the beach and some parts of the rocky formation. But sometimes when I went there, there are no rangers around...

Lovely place there, good for bird shooting during sunrise and sunsets

Chek Jawa is supposedly closed to public, but since there are no fences, no barricades, and even police who patrols the area to watch out for the public (not catch trespassers, but to check the area), anyone can trek in at their own risk.

Just don't trample. There's a lot of damage done to the fragile structures by weekenders who like to think they own the damn place..
