well, they are better alternatives.

you can buy and carry a few zoom lenses like these;
AFS 17-35 mm f/2.8 ED-IF Nikkor
AFS 28-70 mm f/2.8 ED-IF Nikkor
AFS 70-200 mm f/2.8 G VR ED-IF Nikkor

or just a couple of zoom lenses;
AFS 17-55 mm f/2.8 G DX ED-IF Nikkor and
AFS 70-200 mm f/2.8 G VR ED-IF Nikkor

or perhaps some prime lenses;
AF 14 mm f/2.8 ED-RF Nikkor
28 mm f/2 Nikkor
35 mm f/1.4 Nikkor
AF 50 mm f/1.4 Nikkor
AF 85 mm f/1.4 Nikkor
AF 105 mm f/2 DC Nikkor
AFS 200 mm f/2 ED IF VR G

or just a single versatile-powerful-covers everything from wide landscapes to tight portrait shots-compact lightweight zoom lens like the one you mentioned.

you are not going to sell your pictures or view the images in a pixel-peeping-100%-crops, are you?

it is a very gd walk about lens, esp when you go travelling or taking wedding - 1 lens covers all

However, do not expect it to be as exellent as the trinity or other prime lens.
