    Hi fellows,

Any idea what is the write speed for microdrive is?
i am using a Sony F828. And i know that microdrive is recommended for 30fps video shooting. And so i assume that microdrive has a good write speed?
But i just like to know the exact speed for it.
Yep....i too am tempting to get one Seagate 8gb MD.

if i'm not wrong the 30fps video mode for the 828 only works with the pro memory stick. that's why i went out to buy a 256 stick. though i'm convinced that my lexar 2 gb card is faster than the memory stick (but it doesn't work with the 30fps recording).

    Hello Bro

Yes I've tested an 8Gb Seagate Photo Drive CF TypeII
It has a 2mb cache built-in for ultra fast transfer speed cum the rotation is 3600rpm

It is really quite and fast but price is quite high S$199/-

Now using Seagate 4Gb Photo Drive CF TypeII also have 2Mb cache built-in.
Happy with the performance and price.
    Paid S$100/-

a MD really crawls compared to a CF. It also has a higher chance of data failure. An MD is pretty good for the professional bodies like the 1-series, because these have a higher write rate for MDs and the image buffer is much higher. For consumer bodies, it tends to take close to 10s or more to write one image, which I personally find to be an annoyance.

I really wouldn't recommend an MD for a sports event. I was basically able to fill up the buffer on my MKII while shooting a sports event. Considering that the buffer is a healthy 40 frames, it really doesn't speak well of the MD. I wasn't even shooting continuously

Depends on usage and purpose, for certain.

    Hello Bros

Seagate have made super changes to all their portable hard drives and you should see this video to understand more of it.

I own a 5Gb yoyo type external portable pocket Hard disk and I've drop it twice and it is still running in top condition.
Many thanks to Seagate Technology for safe guard all my MP3 songs.
