IIRC - R1800 is $1050 from SE Asia computer at Funan. Completely worth the price though.

Secondly, the bottom of the page of the R1800 brochure says "Prographic" Thirdly, R2400 is linearized at the factory before it is shipped. It has only the small carts for inks. |

Sorry for being out of topic.
As R1800/R2400/4800 do not have postscript support, i am thinking of buying 3rd party software for my Indesign/Quarkxpress layout works. http://www.iproofsystems.com/ is providing such support. Maybe R1800/R2400/4800 users can provide some feedback/guidance. Thanks. |

Nowadays, the printer drivers on the OS gives close enough quality when you print these images through the application itself where the app would rasterize the image and send the data to the printer as raster rather than vector data. RIP can convert PS to raster data but if you want to buy it just to print the pictures, you don't need it. If you want to buy the RIP to have better output, yes, but the difference is not that significant nowadays. If you want to buy just to get better photo output printing by bypassing the printer driver and take control directly, may be, but only when you know how to set it properly. |
