Default Banded Woodpecker

Quite a common resident of P. Ubin, hard to shoot tho as it is very swift, moves in the shade and doesnt stay still for long in one place.

Indeed Ubin is a big place. Normally, I bike around as I find walking too slow. So far, I have been to the West and East, and find the west area more fruitful. The area between the river and NTUC resort has lots of birds, takes about 10 minutes by bike (or if you prefer walking maybe half an hour) to get from the jetty. Saw hornbill this morning before the NTUS resort and they seem to have shifted from the east side to the quarry area over at the west side. There is also a colony of herons right on the tip of the west side in a quarry, but it is about an hour by bike!

Sorry, cant go till end of the month as I shall be busy for the next 3 weeks. By the way, if you are after birds, it may be a good idea to go earlier, to avoid the crowds. Have fun!

The boats start around 6-6.30am, but they have a funny system. They must wait till they have 12 persons before they can leave. So the timing is sometimes unpredictable. Another tip, the carpark at the jetty is free on Sundays and Public Hols. that's why I usually go on Sundays.
