Default [seeyf] - A Photo A Week (maybe more!)

This photo marks the beginning of my Photo A Week Gallery.
Nothing to shoot at home, so took a picture of my (just completed) homework and my only other lens (75-300) together with some filters before school starts tomorrow. Tried out various angles with my new flash, and liked this the most. Don't really know much about lighting, though. Will have to practice more. I put the flash on the right and a piece of paper in front to try and diffuse it.

Nothing to photograph with all the rain...here's a fern on my balcony reflected in a puddle.

As a bonus, here's a photo of the dragonfly taken on the 13th. Which one do you prefer?

i prefer the first dragonfly shot.
i also like your botanical tree shot, frame provided by nature, takes a keen eye to spot it!

This morning's sky and full moon. Handheld with the camera on my balcony railing, explaining the blurry buildings. But no time to set up tripod as I had to rush to school.

Here's an alternative B&W version. I think this one looks nicer. (And this shot had less handshake, but the buildings were a little out of focus)

An attempt to make a studio shot for the new year. I draped an old piece of cloth over two chairs for the backdrop and bounced the flash over the ceiling. Does anyone know how to make the lighting more even?

People at Chinatown usher in the new Year of the Dog while fireworks shoot silver foil into the air. More photos from Chinatown at new year's eve here: http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthrea...35#post1862635

Thanks erthling and wiz23 for your comments. This one was taken from a moving car. I noticed these people wearing bright orange suits (and orange bags!) and quickly took a shot. I like the way the colour of their suits corresponds to the warm colours of the strip of stone by their feet and the red firepost on the right. Unfortunately, the photo is quite soft as I didn't have time to focus (was using MF).

Orange
