Had an opportunity to shoot again today. Daughter was asleep in the car, and inorder not to wake her up, I let her sleep with my wife taking care of her. So had close to an hour to shoot below my house. Saw several jumping spiders, but had my reverse lens on, so not able to get a good shot. Anyway, managed to shoot a funny Y-looking insect (any ID appreciated), a small mantis, and a Lynx and Heavy Jumper (sorry to bore you again with the heavy jumper). This fella was quite a mature one.
FZ10+6T+Sigma CU, Ext bounce flash, ISO50, F8.0 various speeds #1: I can see you! 1/200s This fella was searching for food, and I did not want to disturb it, as past exp told me that if I disturb it, it will go into the foilage to hide. It jumped onto this leaf, and while searching for an angle to shoot, saw this opening in the leaves to shoot. Thought it was an interesting framing....and only had 2 shots when it was there. This was the better one. ![]() #2: Side view 1/200s This fella was quite large....larger than any normal jumper I see. ![]() #3: Lynx 1/160s Saw this large lynx too, but this time, on the leave rather than on the flower as in my previous post. ![]() #4: Mantis 1/250s Saw this very small mantis below the leave. ![]() #5: Backlit Mantis 1/125s When to the opposite side and it was backlit ![]()

Could it be a leaf insect? Just wild guessing ...

Nice pics as usual. Both insects are juveniles as the wings have not formed yet. The bug is probably a juvenile stink bug or one of its relatives. Have a great 2006 ahead!
