Thread: >1Gb SD slows down camera?

  1. #1

Question >1Gb SD slows down camera?

hi, I was told by the salesperson whom i bought a new Canon IXUS 55 from that it is not advisable to use mem card >1Gb (camera uses SD) as it will cause the camera to operate slower when taking pictures.

How true is that when using standard memory, not the ultra fast type.

Where got such thing? It's the write speed of the card that affects shooting speed, not the storage space....

Same concept as HDD... does it mean a 120GB Hard disk will operate slower than a 40GB one? No it won't, if the write speed is the same.

Sometimes, cannot trust salesman. Just read some of the funny stories here.

hmmmm....... it used to be true that 80gb hdd is faster than 100gb hdd. how? the spin speed, the cache size, disk density, yada yada yada.

if everything is the same, then there SHOULD NOT be a difference. but then, you never know.

best if you can ask the salesman to demo with 1 and >1 gb SD card to prove his point?

Normally higher the storage, higher will be the read/write speed....

Just use CD and DVD as example... even thought at the same 16x, the tranfer speed is very different.

Rotational speed is the same 7200RPM, only difference is the platter density and the no. of platter being used. The greater the density, the less head movement.
