Default Cicadas "blooming" in Osaka's summer

I wasn't expecting this when I went to Osaka for a business trip 2 weeks ago. Cicadas are everywhere and they are big! The cicadas choir is deafening; I could hear them from my 20th floor hotel room.

Cell phone camera, natural light. Cropped for composition.

Video recording of cicadas choir in the Osaka Nankai Wild Bird Sanctuary (How to link the video into this page?)

    Nice find.
You should find one which is molting and shoot the process in video. It will be over in few minutes. But take care not to touch its wings or body which may cause deformation and affect the bug.

Thanks for the heads up. Did not think of that at the time, it would have been a good night time activity.
