Dunno if there is any S3 Pro with CCD defect but for S2 Pro, some of them are Free
![]() http://www.fujifilm.com.sg/site/A303.htm <Phenomenon> Captured images may be in completely black, purplish cast, or in disorder. This phenomenon can be recognized on LCD monitors even before shooting, except for the FinePix S2 Pro. In the S2 Pro, customers can only recognize it with captured images. <Cause of trouble> There was a lack of uniformity in the quality of CCD (images capturing sensor), due to problems during a certain period in the production process. It became obvious that this trouble may happen in combination of this CCD quality and usage/storage conditions or age deterioration. However, this trouble may happen in limited units, and it does not always happen in all cameras. <Measures> If the above mentioned cameras present this problem, Fujifilm will repair those cameras free-of-charge in our service centers, even if the warranty period is expired. |

Maybe you could describe how your LCD is spoilt? Because if the CCD is spoilt it's usually shows on the LCD too leading you to think the LCD is spoilt.

In any case, you will want to take note of b18's post and reference quote. Usually problems on the LCD display are linked to the CCD issue. When the CCD has problems, the LCD will display quite strange stuff. The best non-Fuji repair service I know is the one at Camera Hospital at Sunshine Plaza. The chap there is excellent! However, if it is a CCD-caused issue, you are better off bringing it back to Fujifilm. The CCD replacement is usually f.o.c. If it is a case of absolutely no more display, then you should bring it back to Fuji for a quote (esp if under warranty). Or to Camera Hospital if there is nearer for you. There is a tiny handful of serious Fuji S2/S3 users in this forum, although we normally don't post much (or log in much). If you want, you can PM me the details of your problem, ie, what screen flickers/etc that you may face. |

Fuji has two tiers of charges: consumer, reasonably cheap; professional, very expensive. For example, F700 CCD replacement $60. S2pro CCD replacement $1680. ![]() |
