    In fact, it is not a good news for end-users like us.
    Less Manufacturers, less competitive, lead to higher price in future.

    Maxtor's tech support stuff already under strength due to ongoing retrenchment exercise for the past year plus.
    Likely to go this time will be more on dubrication posts; eg HR & finance dept, heads of Dept etc.
    Seagate is more on automation, whereas Maxtor rely more on operators. Next to go will be these operators.

    hmm... hopefully, this meant better support for maxtor users i have one spoilt disk to be placed.

    Believe future HDD will come with 5yr warranty(Seagate's practice) instead of current 3yr(Maxtor).
