Also interested in either 4490 or 4990, saw both the scanner at
Epson Showroom. Seems to me difference in weight is a lot, but the staff saying scanning capabilities quite close. But he cannot say for sure , or rather he says no ice technology when scanning prints, only apply to negatives. Anyone know for sure about this. |

Both of them have the ice technology for prints and films( negative and slides: remember b&w negatives and KOdachrome are not supposed by ICE)
But For 4490 has two options for ice: quality( best) and lite ( fast but have to compromise the image quality) For 4990 has only one opion for ice: quality

4490 is 'younger' than 4990.
