    Default Java help needed!

I'm programming using Java, and I'm currently designing a GUI using Swing.

Just a simple one with pull-down box and text fields.

    IDE is Eclipse
    Using j2re1.4.2_09

Whenever I try to run the file as a Java Bean, Eclipse will auto shut-down and the following error message appears.

Anyone encountered this before and/or knows how to solve it?

    JVM terminated. Exit code=1
    C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_09\bin\javaw.exe
    -Xms40m
    -Xmx256m
    -jar C:\Program Files\Eclipse\startup.jar
    -os win32
    -ws win32
    -arch x86
    -launcher C:\Program Files\Eclipse\eclipse.exe
    -name Eclipse
    -showsplash 600
    -exitdata f28_10c
    -vm C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_09\bin\javaw.exe
    -vmargs
    -Xms40m
    -Xmx256m
    -jar C:\Program Files\Eclipse\startup.jar

erm...i checked according to the date....the error is not logged...

and its seems that Eclipse rolls-back to a earlier memory cache or something...

i deleted a .java file which is useless, and after Eclipse auto-shut down, when I start it up again, the 'file' will still be there. Will need to refresh my program space to 'update' it, even though I had updated it before the crash.

Try use this commands to start up eclipse in command line.

cd <path to your eclipse home>
    java -jar startup.jar

But first you need to have JDk installed. This will show the exception thrown when eclipse crashed. Another place to find log is the .log file in the .metadata directory in your workspace directory.

Hmm ok..just managed to get the error message.

An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:

    EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x74c9dd88, pid=3652, tid=3424

Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.4.2_09-b05 mixed mode)
    Problematic frame:
    C 0x74c9dd88

An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid_pid3652.log

The log file is quite long, and err...can't really understand...
