I had a Vivtar flash laying around so I thout I'd use it as a slave flash hoping to get rid of shadows. I got a divice that triggers the flash by the light of the built in flash (still havn't bought a seperate flash unit). I tried it out on manual setting as well as program setting. What is happenning is - when I take pictures with the slave, the pictures come out under exposed as to the ones I take without the slave. There must be something I don't know and am doing wrong. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

sth that I am trying to work ard as well. have two suntax flashs one canon one nikon mount. see my thread http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=166116 anyway to answer you. I suspect its cos the 10D has a preflash which the camera uses to measure the exposure. this preflash will trigger ur slave flash too early. so what happens is the camera thinks there's enough light at first then when it actually fires the 'real' flash. your pic is underexposed.

Thanks for the info. Got a lot to learn. Guess I spent the money for nothing and also the flash has no future. If you figure out a work around though, please let me know. Thanks again. |
