Default Urgent Help Needed: Colour Space Set Wrongly

Hi,

I need some advise here. I took some photos in RAW/NEF using my D70 recently and only discovered that under the Image Optimisation, I accidently left it to LANDSCAPE mode and forgot to change it back to normal mode before taking 'non-landscape' type of photos.

As a result of this, my potraits and indoor shots (taken with flash and WB set to auto) turned out abit too warm or brownish when viewed on the computer. It looks perfect on the LCD which is why I didn't discover it till later.

According to the manual, NEF provides me the flexibility to change my colour space from mode IIIa(sRGB) (which was set as a result of the landscape mode setting) to mode Ia (sRGB) which I use more frequently and have a workflow for.

The problem is that when I change the colour mode using Nikon Capture, the colours do not revert to the natural tone which I am more familiar with. Of course I can tweak and mess around with the colour settings manually, but it would be very difficult to maintain the same colour / tone throughout all the pictures.

Does anyone have any solution that would be able to help me? Thanks in advance.

Erm... I can see distinct colour shift when changing from Mode III to Mode I on Capture.

I know that there is a shift. But this shift would not be the same as if the picture was taken in Mode I to start with. How to I view the picture such that it is the same as the actual subject?

I got a feeling it has to do with ICC profiling and all, but how do I do that in Nikon Capture or Photoshop in this given scenario.

I can do that, but if I have a series taken in slightly different lighting conditions, it would be hard to get a consistent colour output.

If the pic was taken in RAW and you are using Nikon Capture, you should be able to change the colour space. You mean it doesn't work?

Hmmm... not say doesn't really work lah... can see that the skin tones are more normal..

But just curious cos when I do take 2 photos with the exact same setting in Mode Ia & Mode IIIa and I change the Modes in NCapture. The results are not the same. Skin tone in a original Mode Ia still looks nicer than a Mode IIIa to Ia photo. How come?

Make sure you are comparing images with the same tonal curve.
