Default Pen tablet for PS

Hi all PS users, do you all have a pen tablet at home?

There are so many types of tablets so any brands to recommend?

wacom tablets are good. got one intuos 9x12 second hand. works for the macintosh. it's great. if you're definitely going to get one, dont settle for a small one, you'd rather use a mouse in that case.

Wacom Graphire user here, 4 x 6 but already good enough. Think Graphire 3 is going at 170+?

Hi Tunster,

The tablet you used at DMH, was it a Wacom Graphire 3 or 4? 4 x 6 or the bigger one?

I bought a gaphire 4 A6 size for less than 200 bucks. You can get it at skylet or ATF. Now it has become my mouse also

Of course Wacom is good and probably the best pen tablet but comes at a price. It depends how you will use it, how often you'll use it and whether you intend to use it for long such that you want good support and upgrading with more pens and nips and etc. For me, I didn't need a Wacom tablet and so resorted to use a cheaper alternative; I went for a Genius 9"x12" which only cost me S$78 (I think if I remember it correctly). Currently also ended-up as my mouse pad as well (it comes with a cordless mouse). So far it have served me well. Only gripes are that the nibs cannot be changed or replaced and certainly no upgrade, cordless pen need a "AAA" battery (Wacom do not need one), no good support from Genius Taiwan (had a hard time getting explanation whether the pen nib changeable or not and where to buy extra pens when needed) and smoothness and sensitivity of the pen not as good as a Wacom despite it claiming to have 1024 levels of sensitivity (Wacom graphire I think mainly have 512 levels if I'm not wrong). Have so far served me pretty well.

The one I used is the very first generation. Not the 3 or 4

4 inches (H) x 5 inches (L). Sounds small but it's actually enough for photo processing.

I'm also hunting for a tablet, the Genius is pretty friendly on the wallet. It boast 1024 levels and 4096 lpi. nothing on the sensitivity of the tablet.
Anyone else to comment?

Isn't Wacom a Taiwan brand? Will it be cheaper to get it in Taiwan? Or will it be cheaper to get in China or just a normal brandless tablet?
