which wide zoom is recommended?
Tokina 12-24mm/Sigma12-24mm or nikon 12-24mm? Also, any different between 10-20mm and 12-24mm? Heard that sigma 10-20 has very good color rendition. How much 2nd hand nikon worth? Thanks in advance! |

Errr ... this question has been ask many times ... I think u should try a search on this forum, will be faster
![]() Anyway, I've recommended this article many times before. Here it is again: A "Super-Wide Angle" Lenses Shootout by Jason Odell, Rick Walker and Eric Walker It's a very good article, evaluating and highlighting the differences between the 4 digi-only wide-angle lenses. So, u can decide based on ur preferences and needs. It didn't include the Sigma 12-24, because this lens can be used on a FF SLR. The lenses reviewed are all made for DSLRs, which includes the Sigma 10-20.

i hav the tokina for ~2weeks now, no problems. its gd enough as i dont shoot wide as often as my mid range and tele.
the 2mm diff between 10 and 12 is 20% so u lose 10% wideness on the sides which is ~300pixels on a d70. nikon like other oem lenses resell very well. u can easily recover 80% of ur investment if ur lens is still in good shape and its one of the [pro] lenses. consumer lenses like the d50 kit 18-55 or 55-200 of course wont resell as well. |

Personally, I chose the Sigma 10-20 because: 1) it's supposed to have the lowest CA; 2) it is the widest at 10mm; 3) it's supposed to be sharper than the Tokina at the wide end; 4) it is lighter than Tokina; 5) it has HSM. But I guess If I had bought the Tokina, I would be just as happy ... Right now, though, I am enjoying my Sigma ![]() The 4 lenses tested in the article are all good lenses. Whichever u decide to buy in the end will depend on ur personal preferences. I thought the reviewers did a good job of highlighting the strengths & weaknesses of each lens ... So read carefully and decide for yourself ![]()
