Default IS a fast SD Card required on my D50

Hi People,

A basic question.

My retailer has given a standard 1 GD Kingston SD card. I asked him if I require a fast SD card for which I was willing to pay extra, he said it is not required. I came home... charged the camera and tested the burst mode. After about 12 shots the camera started to slow down from about 2.5 FPS to less than 1 FPS.

My question, it this because the memory card is slow and the camera could not write the image fast enough from the buffer to the card.

Any replies appreciated....

Sharf

The answer is yes. But even with the fastest SD cards available now, the camera will still slow down to about 1.6fps.

I wouldn't worry about it, how often will you shoot more than 12 frames in a row continuously at 2.5fps?

D2HS use CF card

Fast SD card? Good to have but not "required".

Still i echo the call of buy buy buy
so you cannot blame the card for being slow

Just make do with what you have for now. Fast card do help, and with buffer of 12 shots, it will still slow down as it records. Got to learn to shoot at the right time (or close to range). No point getting the fastest card and just press and don't let go. Might as well get a digital video cam then.

The best equipment will only help so much in getting the right photo. Still takes a skilled photographer to get good photos.

Thanks mate, for a good piece of advice. I agree with you the skill matters the most, and right now I need to catch up a lot.
