Default Crazy Horse - cabaret show in SGP

Crazy Horse and Moulin Rouge - carbaret shows.

On the one hand, we are supposed to be a good clean society, or at least, that was the intention of our government and leaders.

But, it seems that our censorship is getting more relaxed through the years. We have our R-rated movies - which degenerated into some B-grade ones in B-grade cinemas frequented by some Ah Peks.

In the 70s, our Bugis Street used to be one of top tourist attraction with all the Ah Guas frolicking with the tourists and that was world famous.

Today, we have Crazy Horse - I would say only the French could make such a chic show and entertains without any hint of going into porn. Only time will tell if that cabaret is sustainable here in Singapore.
I love big car, big house, big lenses, but small apertures.

    Hahah...

Remember on some tv media interviews on this topic and they say they are trying to recruit asians (performers) into this....

Talking about censorship.....haha just realised that even the free photomag given out at a local photography shop have nude full forntal type shot - apparently approved by MITA.

So you be the judge - where we are now. Its now up to individual to monitor and educate and steer your family, children etc...

Have a very close relative (she's a teacher) that is very open in educating her kids. Even gave them an awareness of XXx channel while on holiday in UK and talk about it since its there on the cable tv - when they accidentally chose the channel through the remote.

Now that they are in Sec. sch. they even discus to their parent on sexual related stuff. Open minded. well...its basically being real in life. It have helped them to be less "gian" and can now even voice out if they feel that its right or wrong.

it's a fact of life already. best thing we can do is to responsibly educate our children so that they can then make responsible decisions themselves.

As least the child are more well inform on sex related issue, instead of getting it from unreliable sources. They are are also more open to their parents when they face this kind of issue, I believe they form better bonding also.

Art or Porn. It depends on the viewing party and his interpretation.

These days, most kids have got broadband at their disposal. Porn sites are so readily available thru' those search engines. More than any kid can digest - all genre. I am not surprised that some of these kids are more knowledgeable than some of us! As many have both parents working, these kids have got plenty of time on the net.

So, afterall, there is nothing that Crazy about that Horse. Maybe, we should view it as just another show, a different genre of entertainment to consider.

    Check this out :

Neptune Theatre Restaurant, 50 Collyer Quay, 7th Floor, SingaporeTel : 62243922

It's the only nightclub in Singapore licensed to feature the occasional topless cabaret show.

An earlier article also mentioned the above :

NUDES DRESSED UP IN LIGHT --- Thursday May 19, 2005

Eng Wah signs $5m deal to bring world famous Paris cabaret to S'pore
    Mervin Tay - mervin@newstoday.com.sg

COME December, nude women performing in a cabaret show in the heart of Singapore's all-new 24-hour entertainment precinct, Clarke Quay, will no longer be mere wild fantasy.

Yesterday, local entertainment company Eng Wah Organization signed a deal with Crazy Horse Paris to bring the world famous cabaret to Singapore. The show celebrates the art of the nude, and its concept is "to paint women's bodies with beautiful lighting and spectacular costumes", said
Crazy Horse Paris' managing director Didier Bernard, whose father, Alain, founded the show in 1951.

The dancers could be topless at times, and "wearing only a pair of G-strings".

"They may be physically nude, but are dressed up in light," he said. The show has been given "in-principle approval" by the local authorities, and has an age limit of 21, said Eng Wah managing director Goh Min Yen.

The only other topless show in Singapore is at Neptune Theatre Restaurant, with an age limit of 18.

Committing $5 million to this collaboration, Eng Wah will refurbish 3B Clarke Quay into a custom-designed cabaret. The 15,000-sq ft building will include a 400-seat theatre, as well as a bistro and a bar. It will develop and manage the venue and market the cabaret, while creative control like music, choreography and lighting will remain with the Paris-based management team of Crazy Horse. Said Mr Bernard: "We are beginning castings for the Singapore show now and recruiting dancers from Europe - mainly from France - and Asia."

Aiming to draw 120,000 to 150,000 visitors annually, Eng Wah is positioning the cabaret as a permanent fixture in Singapore. The cabaret would "give visitors to Singapore more night-time
entertainment options and we hope this encourages them to extend their stay", said Ms Goh.

Ticketing details have not been worked out. According to the Crazy Horse Paris website, tickets start from 90 euros ($188). Crazy Horse also performs at the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas. But the decision to set foot in Singapore, its first Asian location, was unrelated to the Government's decision to build two integrated resorts at Sentosa and Marina Bay, Mr Bernard said.

Singapore was chosen over other Asian cities because it is a "gateway" to Asia, he said. He picked Clarke Quay after visiting over 20 locations here. "I was told people tried to spice up the place 10 years ago, but it didn't work. But I find it beautiful and charming."

Whatever the views, hope it is successful and able to attract the crowd; 450 seats is big business. Wish the operator all the best; it will be good for our economy.

Went there for the gala opening. Was very impressed, not at all what I imagine it to be.
It was done very artistically. Wasn't sleezy at all. You can't pay attention to any particular girl cause they all look the same with their costumes and heavy make up plus all their figures were similar ( I think this is to make the audience focus more on the whole show). The girls were topless but they use special lights to cast designs on their bodies which was really cool and gave a dreamy effect which lingers on your mind for a while even after the show.
All and all, I think that it great that our country is slowly opening up their minds.
