never subscribe scv, cos waste money, most of the time family don't watch so much tv, so even replay also cannot watch ... haiz ... anyway, so did the documentary trace the history of singapore from the 1400s? or even before that?

    Edit:
Part 3 is about SG's road after independance and the future. Showing at 11pm. Title abit funny? 'Lion City - Asian Tiger'

I quite like how the whole programme is actually panning out... Quite insightful.

very insightful indeed, never knew my idolised Raffles had a beer tummy and William Farquar was near bald.

Nevertheless, a great visual teaching material for the students today

Nope...the documentary only start from when Raffles came to Singapore.

    Default Singapore vs. Michael Fay

Yeah, it's a lengthy, but a good documentary about the history of Singapore. And we are, like the title says, an "accidental nation", and thank god for that!

But did any of you guys pay attention to the last episode when more focus is put on SM Goh Chok Tong? There was this whole segment lasting for around 5-7 minutes about the infamous Michael Fay incident.

Apparently, Bill Clinton wrote in about the caning part but Singapore didn't lift the caning punishment but reduced from 6 to 4 strokes instead. SM Goh went on to say that after the incident, he didn't meet Clinton for 1-2 years because the White House denied all of his requests to meet Clinton.

Jeez... Doesn't that sound almost the same like what happened recently?

    PEACE,
    _mich_

P.S - Michael Fay deserved the caning! SM Goh is too kind.

I chuckled when Raffles landed at the beach and there were some skulls on sticks planted on it.

I cannot believe there were people in Singapura then who were barbaric.....

They showed the whole 3 parts in one go in Australia. It was the Night of Singapore.

It is very well-produced and it fills in some of the gaps that I don't know about Singapore.
