or salvage them from an old PC. computer cable shops at sls and fc, even the cable shops at slt have these CD-Audio connectors. just make sure you buy the ones WITH a cable!

hey peeps.... i found the cd-rom audio cable at some computer shop for 3 bucks... problem is.. after cutting away 1/4 of the plastic "head"..leaving behind 3 cables... it still cant fit into the remote terminal of the 5D... anyone of you experienced such problems also? How much of the head did you all cut off? and did it fit nicely?
Dun dare (and shouldn't) force my way in.. haha..

Thanx in advance for any advice!
(Final hurdle to my Vertical Grip!!)

if it can't fit, try to trim off a bit more and try again.

This is how mine looks like. It should fit snugly, but shouldn't have to force it in. Gd luck!

here's one to take it to a whole new level. i'm working on these two at the moment:

1. add an "out" port to allow you to connect your remote cable without having to disconnect your connected CD cable

2. add a RC circuit (with 9v batt) in the housing so you don't need the remote cable. and have something that no other DSLR (or even camera?) has - wireless shutter remote control.

Not exactly true... the body's grip is still too short without the vertical grip in place I feel...

btw, back on track, do you know anything about RF transmitters and receivers? or better yet, how to use them to trigger a zero-voltage switch? i have two pairs of these little transmitters and receivers but based on the diagrams i've found, some parts are either unavailable even at SLT or i'm not sure how to use them. but looking at the overall size, they should fit together with a 9V batt and antennae coil in the VG.

This only a PS image of the 5D with VG from D80. Length wise the grip is abt 5mm longer than the 5D base. Though the VG is selling for something like $300 bucks. If only it's cheaper might mod using it.
