How do you define "proper"?? Use the macro feature in A40 and just shoot??

I tried that but I just couldn't get the result I saw on some of the member's work.

If you want *seriously* big pictures (as in filling the frame with the whole insect) you probably need a close-up filter. If you want to use a close-up filter then you'll need to buy a lens adapter for your A40. If I'm not wrong, there's 37mm and a 52mm lens adapter for A40.
