Default F11 Purple fringing problem?

Hi F11 users..I am scouting a compact for my colleague who is buying for her use and for her daughter. I thnk I have been quite impressed with the cam except for the xd card (never a supporter of the odd ball mem card format by oly and fuji), but i am slightly concerned abt the purple fringing issue which has been noted in some forums and reviews. Just like to know from actual F11 users, how bad is the purple fringing problem? Or is it negligible and only happens under certain situations. Compared to other compacts u have used before, how does it fare? Thks for the help.

Comparable with the expensive (more than SGD 200 more expensive than F11) iXus 700 / 750. The level is average, as long as you don't shoot direct to the source of light, it is not significant.

Check the car's lamps on my samples Fuji F11 Sample Photos

I just purchased the camera and did find the purple fringing annoying.

I'm checking with Fujifilm technician to see if this amount of purple fringing is normal.

See my test shots here http://anthonysnap.multiply.com/

It's a known fact. You will have to use post processing method to remove it or make it less apparent.

I guess I'm after whether the amount of purple fringing is normal. I gather from a few other forums that it varies enough to warrant a check.

just got mine f11 few days ago. shot abt 200 pic so far.

as long as u dont shoot directly to extreme strong light source (eg. sun), i feel the fringing is fairly acceptable for normal 4 or 5R print. in term of performance / price ratio, it is a good camera to get. it is the limitation of this camera.

besides it, it is really sweet. the ccd's quality is good. no need to talk much. compare iso1600 with my friend's canon 10D, it looks around the same. still quite useable.

but if you need to print 8R (or above) often, or really cant bear with fringing, you may consider a camera which has a better lenses, may be a dslr. camera in this price range all suffer from purple fringing problem due to the quality (and size also?) of the lenses.

that's how i feel =)
