Default BW convert, just to share a tiny tutorial

Hi guys, just to share my bw conversion workflow. I think its a rather quick and easy method that works pretty well. At least for me Basically it works the same way as the channel mixer method, just that you can see the changes directly as you move the sliders.

    Original pic :

    Step 1 :
Create a Hue/Saturation layer and set the saturation to -100

    Step 2:
    Duplicate the Hue/Saturation layer

    Step 3 :
Set the 2nd layer to color mode
If you understand my works, it's photography. If you don't, it's art.

    Step 4:
Adjust the hue and saturation for the 2nd layer till you get what you like

After these steps, its the usual curves/contrast workflow most people usually perform.

    The result :

Ok, that's the end of this tiny tutorial. Hope you guys found this helpful

Best method for me is the Greg Gorman technique that is posted inside his website.

No doubt that there are quite a number of steps to remember, but the results are very effective as well. No need to add on extra layers.

Any difference between step 1 and the final result??
Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field.

    Same question.

Doesn't look any different to me - at least on my screen.

At first when I tried it out, I thought it looks the same too. But you will actually see dramatic changes when you move the sliders in the final step.
