Default F11 - Flash Recycle Time

To F11 users,

Is the flash recycle time for F11 roughly the same as the F10? dpreview quoted a recycle time of 3.3 secs which is quite long. I was frustrated with my Pana LC33 before because of the long recycle time tho I don't recall exactly how long. Sometimes I feel ashamed when I asked my friends to wait while my flash recycles during group photo situations. Currently, I'm using a Pana FZ5 with a satisfactory speed at 1.3s but I'm planning to buy the F11 this Christmas.

Please comment. Thanks.

Flash recycle a bit slow, but not bad. It is true that if you use a lot of full flash picture taking, it will make you waiting. But if you use high ISO, not necessary for full flash output, then the recycling is faster.

I bought F11 to avoid using flash, or to use flash as less as possible, so flash recycling time is not an issue for me, especially when using ISO 400 indoor.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I guess it's something I have to live with. I bought a SUNPAK flash adapter for my Pana FZ-5 to compensate for the low ISO I had to set because of the noise problem. I may not have to use it that much with F11 good high ISO capability except for "portrait" shots at home. I just hope the plastic tripod mount of F11 is durable enough....

Do you mean you use the Sunpak as slave to your Pana? I'm looking for small slave flash to, do you mind to share info of your Sunpak? Thanks!

I hate the plastic tripod mount as well

my set up looks like this except i use a a UNOMAT flash.... i

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=15970009

it's been quite useful.... i use it a lot to take pics of my baby inside our room. i use a plastic case like the one for camera film and cut 2 strips of negative film and cover the built in flash as to not damage my son's eye's and avoid washouts. it's also good for group pics tho in every occcasion i encounter problems triggering the flash tho all the settings were correct. nonetheless, it's a great value for money. with the 2nd flash i only paid abt S$80....

I see, I have 2 Nissin flashgun, tried it yesterday with 'cateye' sensor to trigger the flashgun, didn't work Fuji use preflash, so the flashgun fires at the preflash, not at the actual flash. The result very dark and underexpose.

I will need slave flash that is compatible with preflash (like canon, fuji also use preflash).

my sunpak flash adapter has several modes... one can trigger the attached flash simulataneously with the 2nd flash while the other can trigger the same time as my camera's built in flash. that's only 2 out of the 5 modes available...
