BTW sorry for the OT....I think the model face is not totally in focus, you can see her left eye and left side of face OOF a little...but the 135mm f/2.8 does look like a nice piece of glass..

Speaking of the OOF, I think its one of the 'tiny' problem fast-prime lens has. Example, when u take a close-up face shot, the focus will tend to point to the higer point/closer to lens point. In this case, the nose will sometimes fool the camera reading.

So in this picture, there is definitely somewhere that is nearer to the lens, guess where the focus point is??? Was that deliberate??

I never let the camera decide its focus point. I either use centre focus or select my focus points when the subject point is close and off centre. I have used the 135mm f2.8 and its focussing has mostly been tack sharp and accurate.

wow your eyes damn sharp!
no la, not on purpose. i focus her eye then recompose leh, maybe during the movement the camera cannot resist and re-auto focus itself?

My guess is the focus point was on her right shoulder?

Normally for portraits you have to be careful of where the camera focuses, esp when shallow DOF (ie large aperture) is employed. Therefore manual selection of focus points or manual focus is better than activating all focusing points and just letting the cam automatically focus on the nearest pt, which probably might be anything except the face, which would result in OOF eyes, face etc.

I'm not sure if the OOF effect here is deliberately done though.

Yup, could be what happened. Maybe try select your focus point to the nearest to her face, and then focus lock and no need to recompose. Focus lock and then recompose is easy to get the focus point off due to accidental shift, camera refocus elsewhere, etc.
