Default Is HSS TTL or Manual(GN=Distance x aperture)?

dear ALL,
is HSS TTL if i'm within in maximum range?

Or must i note the distance scale on the flash and move myself to the suggested distance based on the aperture that i wanted to shoot with?

Thanks

TTL is still active in HSS mode. The range indicated on the flash unit is just the effective distance that it can operate given the ISO, aperture, shutter speed and focal length. Note that once HSS is active, the maximum effective range drops steeply.

Yes, you should shoot within the stated range for the flash to work effectively. Anywhere outside of the range might result in underexposure (too far) or overexposure (too near).
