    Default BEWARE : X-drive users!!

Those who share their memory card across multiple devices,
    such as :
    PPC <=> Card-Reader <=> DigiCam <=> MP3 player

if you plan to use the Memory Card that was used in a PPC / CardReader / MP3 Player b4, to shoot in DigiCam & later transfer it into X-drive:
PLEASE FORMAT THE CARD 1ST B4 YOU SHOOT PICTURES

as I notice from my test,
the X-drive only will transfer files which was created / used in the 1st device after format (although they're all in same FAT type)
    Exp :
    I use my 128MB CF in my PPC(Jornada 568),
    Store My Documents (~ 10MB)
    some MP3 in there, (~ 80MB)
and later I wanna test the transfer rate from CF to X-drive,
so I full the card with misc files using a Card Reader (~31MB)
and then I timed the transfer. To my supprice it only took 2mins & 32sec (that will be too fast)
later I hook-up X-drive to my PC & varify the files coppied..
I found that only the PPC files (My Documents & MP3s) which is ~90MB, were transfered into the X-drive

now I delete all the misc files that I put in to make some room for the card again, so that I can try to fill it up again with my Digicam (Minolta DIMAGE 7i) (I delete these files in X-drive as the card reader)
and shoot ~ 30MB of pictures.
    transfer it into X-drive again
and the timed is still 2min 32sec
chech it in my PC and found that none of the photo images was transfered
although I can access them in the CF tru X-drive as card reader!!

now I copy all the files in the CF (121MB) into my PC
format the card again in X-drive
and copy the 121MB of those files back into the CF from my PC

then I test to transfer CF to X-drive again
(disconnected from PC, so will not use IDE / DMA to transfer)
now all the 121MB of files were transfered successfully
    timed at 3min14sec

    extra test :
format the card in Digicam & shoot 121MB oof RAW image.
    Transfer to X-drive successfully.

hope someone will benefit from my test report :P

    another concern here is that
Please do not practise in camera deletion of pictures..
as you delete a picture (not the last taken),
the location index will be overwriten by a new picture taken later
this will give the FAT a messy index,
which in some case, will result in the picture (which was using the same index location as the one that was deleted) get corrupted after transfered into X-drive (as the size of every picture is different, and some might get fragmented, => X's-drive can't read the other part of it which is in other memory cells => you get bottom part of picture gray out or turn into yellow / black)

if you really need to delete, only delete the last taken picture..

best still don't delete at all

and remember, after you copy everything into X's-Drive, do a format to avoid used FAT index location been overwriten..
avoid use of DELETE ALL after transfer to X-drive as the old FAT will still be used.

why can't we do a fdisk in memory card??
