    I have been using windows since 486 days, started with Mac only last year, then suddenly someone throw a red hat server at me to handle, no choice got to force myself to learn red hat in shortest time possible.

    after learning these 3 OSes, now i can see their own pro & cons

    of cos, there are also many other alternatives OS, but personally i hate software, so i am going back to hardware & networking
    We are HDD of PC & FT are MB add to storage;
    so PC never hangs with enormous storage capacity - LKY

    keke... dun mind, quekky!

    *nw75 looks at watch... looks at computer... still downloading...*

    actually, like wai, i played ard with the various OSes back in my younger and more foolish days in NUS. bo pian lah... worked part-time in the com lab and suppose to be helping to teach the freshies. so better know a little to smoke them... as skinnylatte said, my experience with installing Mandrake and Red Hat are best left forgotten. also tried CollegeLinux, LinDoze (IIRC... it was bought over microsoft and then Gates shut it down), Knoppix (1st gen) etc... my computer table was stacked with CDs. but it was quite difficult to get it to work properly on my PC/laptop cos of all the missing drivers...

    recently, fooled ard with mac... for my mac experience... jsbn can tell u the story!

    Mac, Windoze, Redhat, Mandrake, Solaris each has it's good and bad.

    In short, nw75 should just buy one machine for each OS!!!

    Dat was taken several years ago... During the launch of WinXP at Ngee Ann City. Ppl were queueing up for it and dis chap stands up there with the placard.

    He was later let go with a warning though. I dun think he was sent to polish bar.

    I think those u fiddled with are the older versions. Newer linux distros comes with newer drivers for ur WLAN and other stuff.

    Of cos, for more obscure brands, u'll still have to find a compatible driver's source code and recompile it again.

    Ahhh~~~ If only u'd stuck with it a little longer... Sigh...

    U can oso host ur personal server on ur old box if u want.

    Unlimited storage space and super bandwidth (limited to what u'd subscribed though).
